We’re different.

And you know what? Different is good.

I’m Ciara, and I haven’t always loved being different. It’s especially hard to embrace your differences when you’re a mom, which is a job that’s weirdly specific in the minds of many of us. It’s taken a while, but I’m finally learning to celebrate my unique approach to parenthood — and my unique approach to, well, just about everything else, too.

So come be a weirdo with me, won’t you?

About Ciara

I’ve always been a creative person — the kind of kid who’d rather stay inside writing stories than playing sports. As an adult, I’ve channeled those passions into a career in writing and editing, with a ton of hobbies on the side: ceramics, gardening, baking, making journals, and oh yeah, this site. My two kids are energetic, sweet and goofy, and one of them is autistic, which has opened up a whole new level of learning about, appreciating and advocating for difference for our whole family. We live in South Florida, where we spend a lot of time swimming, kayaking and reapplying sunscreen.
